I got two HIP microdermals about nine weeks ago. (one on each hip) They both seemed to be healing fine but recently the right one is really red and hurts. I’ve been treating it with extra care and it seems to be getting better. Sometimes I can see the bar coming out of my skin, especially when I first got it and when it was red but now it seems okay.

The pain was not as bad as I expected but it did hurt. I also have my nose and recently got my navel done and I would have to say the microdermals definately did hurt more.

I paid $74 for two of them but that was only because the place i got them done at was running a special – 1 for $45 and $25 for every one after that.

As far as catching them on things,
it does happen but I have had no serious problems with it.
My pants did not affect it that much however, i have long nails and I seems to catch my nails on them a lot.

Overall, I love my microdermals and I would recommend them rather than getting surface piercings. The process took probably only five minutes,
but I did get sick after i got them done. I blacked out for a minute and ended up throwing up in the bathroom.
So I would advise you to have someone else drive you there and they can help if you get sick!

Hope this helps!

I am really not used to piercings, seeing as my mother does NOT approve. I am eighteen and I have always wanted piercings. Today I have decided I will either go get my belly button or my hips done. Seeing as most people have their belly button done, I am a bit nervous about getting my hips done though. :( What should I do?

Scarring is hard to avoid. It's part of the natural healing process. Just tlc will keep it to a minimum. There are no such things as flat balls unfortunately. Micro dermals were created to avoid the scarring, infection, and rejection process.

Kaylee, I don't quite understand completely what your situation is. However from what I understand it sounds like your piercing may be healing wrong. I suggest getting it looked at by a professional and see what they suggest for treatment.

I got my hips pierced 6 days ago. They used a 14 gauge industrial bar. The balls at the end keep tending to go higher, therefore my whole on the bottom is getting pretty big & the balls are just sitting there. Is this normal forte healing process?

I got surface done. I will have had them for two months on April 18 buttt I have cheerleading tryouts on April 17 and I need to be able to at least take them out for a couple of hours so I'm going to let someone look at them tomorrow. They're healing pretty well, no bruising no redness (knock on wood) the only thing that would even come across as a problem is the top of the left one is a little sore but that could always be how I've laid on it the night before.

hi i got my hips pierced mid september earlier this year.. about a month after i got them pierced they looked great!! recently they've been irritating me alot..only one hole is completely healed (right top). the other three look horrible.. reali redish purple looking nd a little bump on the top right. back in feburary i was a little concerned so i went to two different places (the place i got it pierced nd this place called finders keepers) both places said it looked like they were forming a little scar tissue, but that they looked fine and to clean it with this sea salt packet they gave me and that it could take up to a year to heal. well i got it pierced with a barbel and i feel like the balls that screw on catch on my pants too much. do you think that flat screw ons (if such a thing) could prevent the redness nd scaring rather than balls?
