I often get asked the same question from people who have never been tattooed. “Do Tattoos Hurt?” Yes, tattoos hurt. Anyone that says tattoos do not hurt has just never been tattooed somewhere that hurts. Your body has different texture skin throughout and I have found that the less skin over a particular area the more it hurts. This is not always true however, since the back of the arm is very fleshy and most people will tell you that it burns badly when tattooed.

The amount a particular area hurts will depend on many factors. Everyone has different pain tolerances as well as unique body shape, so something that hurts me may not hurt you as much.

I think that if you are worried about a tattoo hurting than it may not be the right thing for you. Remember that with proper care you will only need to go through the pain and discomfort once, but be aware that getting tattooed is not always a walk in the park.
