Although everyone's body is different, generally it takes a total of 45 days to completely heal a tattoo.  Proper care can shorten this estimate, alternately poor tattoo care could extend it as well.

For me it takes around a month; I take care of myself before and especially after the tattoo to ensure proper healing. Like drinking Lots of water, getting enough rest and certain vitamins like C, E and D.

can this be explained more in detail?  i have heard this saying and i follow it with much care as well but i know people full of tattoos that have intense, vibrant ink full of life and they party 24/7 with many sleepless nights with nutrients ranging from jack-in-the-box to leftover pizza found under the sofa and they substitute booze for water just curious as to what the end results looks like on a non healthy body? because i will be serious and say that i cant tell the difference

It's not necessarily that your tattoo will heal horribly without proper nutrition and vitamin levels, but it will most certainly affect how quickly your body heals and regenerates the affected tissue.

A person with good diet and proper vitamin levels will heal quicker than someone that drinks a case of beer every night and only eats funyuns.

It took a bout 6 weeks for me... it really just depends on how well you take care of it and what you use.

It's not actually that your body art will cure badly without appropriate nourishment and supplement stages, but it will most certainly impact how easily your body cures and regenerates the impacted cells.

Healing time also depends on where you got your tattoo inked on your body. On average, it is 45 days to heal like someone already mentioned. But for some areas, like foot tattoos, it can take about 3 weeks. Lip tattoos can take a week or two sometimes (although for these tattoos you have to get a lot of touch ups done).
