I just got this yesterday.  It's a surface piercing between my thumb and pointer finger.  It's in the squishy part and is much more sore today then it was yesterday when I got it done.  It didn't hurt too bad, well not nearly as bad as i thought it would.  They used a 14 gauge curved barbel.  I hope that's the right jewlrey because I've been reading that surface bars work better.  I'm sure I can switch to a surface bar if I need to but if this heals ok I'm just going to leave it alone.

They told me 6-8 weeks to heal.  Is that accurate?

That looks pretty good for being a fresh surface piercing.  I would think 6-8 weeks to completely heal is a little on the short side.  Surface piercings can take anywhere from weeks to months to heal.  I've heard of some not healing after an entire year.

The better you take care of your new piercing the quicker it should heal but a few weeks seems like it's a bit underestimated.

I agree... 6-8 weeks sounds like a conservative estimate.  I'd expect about 6 months to heal.

I wonder if that will ever heal completely?  Your had has a ton of movement and pressure in daily use.  I would think that it would produce too much trauma to heal correctly.

Let us know how it goes... I'm interested to find out how it works out for you.
