YES IT HURT!  Actually it wasn't too bad but I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to pain.

It's not actually a surface bar, it's a curved barbel but it resembles a suface bar. My piercer says I'll have better luck with a curved barbel on my abdomen.

I only got one side pierced but if it heals properly I'll probably end up getting the other side done.

I really want one. But I'm afraid, not of rejection per say, but of irritation.  Do clothes bother it?  I'm also a runner, so do you think sweat would be a problem?

I don't have a hip piercing but one of my close friends does.  According to her... Clothes selection is now a key part of her daily routine.  You will probably have to pay closer attention to what is going on around the piercing.

Sweat shouldn't be a problem as long as you wash it regularly and keep the piercing clean.
