I want to get a large thigh tattoo but I have a few scars on my thigh from a barbed wire fence when I was a kid.  The scars are about an inch or two long, in straight lines.  Is there anything I can do to lighten or remove them before getting tattooed?

 Huh

Although it's not always possible to completely remove a scar there are quite a few over the counter products that work wonders for lightening scars.  You might want to do some research to find out what consumers rate the most effective but the ingredient that makes the difference is Vitamin E.

I have also heard that if you'd rather try a cheaper solution, go buy a jar of coco butter and give it a shot.   It works for stretch marks doesn't it?

I had a scar on my forearm from when I was a small girl and cut myself by breaking a window.  My tattoo artist suggested I get Neosporin Scar Solution.  They are silicon sheets treated with a special mix of stuff to lighten scars.

You have to wear them all the time though or they're not going to work right but after about 2 and a half months my scar faded to where you couldn't see it unless you knew it was there.

I got my tattoo accross it and now you wouldn't ever know I had a scar there.

I bookmarked it, thanks for the great info everyone.  I think I'm gonna try those Neosporin Pads.  I'll keep you updated of the progress, or lack there of.
