I was wondering which is safer.  Microdermal implants or surface piercings?

What do you mean "safer"?  both types of piercings performed by a qualified professional are eaqually safe.  If you mean which type is more likely to heal?  It really depends on the area of the body as well as your body's natural ability to heal.

As long as you are not allergic to silver, you should be fine.  although i would be concerned about the quality of the silver.  Silver does tarnish and poor quality silver can cause tarnish that is very bad for fresh piercings.

When you first get a piercing you should stick with the standard jewelry that is offered.  There is a reason why simplicity is beautiful at this stage.
