My Nipple Ripped, What Can I do?

Just as the posts says, I ripped my nipple piercing pretty good yesterday. It is torn close to a quarter of an inch. It didnt rip all the way through, but its extremely sore and was bleeding yesterday. Do I need to take my jewlry out and let it heal?

I have ripped my nipple piercings a few times, I find that a band-aid over the nipple and ring works very well. Salt soaks can help the crusties and keep things from getting sore.
